1: Specialist – NICU – Al Jalila Children Hospital Jobs

Clinical Responsibilities: – Al Jalila Children Hospital Jobs

• Provide high-quality and responsive delivery of patient care to the patients in the NICU
• Participate fully in all aspects of the service provision appropriate to the grade and experience
• Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
• To manage sick neonates in NICU under the direct/indirect supervision of a level 1 attending physician
• Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge that appropriate for the grade
• To participate in 24/7 full shift rota including night shifts
• To participate in clinical governance activity including clinical audit, guideline development, and clinical risk management. They will be expected to produce evidence of their contribution during their annual performance management and appraisal.
• The post holder is required to follow the hospital policies and procedures
• The list of duties and responsibilities given above is not exhaustive and the post holder may be asked to undertake other duties in line with the overall purpose and nature of the post as may be required from time to time

• Serves as a role model for all staff assisting in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship and preceptorship programs in accordance with evidence-based practice.
• Acts as a preceptor/mentor in the supervision and teaching of new staff or students in the development of competencies required
• Welcomes and actively participates in staff/student orientation, promoting and supporting a positive learning environment and transcultural principles in nursing practice
• Develops and maintains own professional knowledge, clinical competency, and skills utilizing reflective practice and maintaining a professional portfolio
• Participates in service activities that contribute to positive patient outcomes, a positive patient experience, and a healthy professional environment
• Participates in and/or has the ability to lead under the guidance, support, and direction of senior staff, the development of programs or quality initiatives that seek to measure and contribute to patient outcomes e.g. clinical auditing, performance improvement activities, and data collection.

• Coordinates care across the continuum – understands and utilizes case management resources to achieve patient care goals, discharge planning, decreasing the length of stay and waiting times.

Education Essential:

• MBBS or equivalent
• Accredited residency training programme in Paediatrics
• NRP provider certification
• Specialist license at DHA

Education Preferred:

• Accredited fellowship in Neonatal Intensive Care.
• NRP instructor certification

Experience

• Minimum three (3) years post residency in Neonatal Intensive care unit at Specialist level

Certification and Licensure:

• Valid and current professional Specialist license from country of origin
• Ability to qualify for UAE physician’s licensure requirements (refer to career website)
• Life Support and Advanced Life support Training
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) required OR Intermediate Life Support (ILS)
• American Heart Association Advanced Life Support: ACLS, PALS, NRP (is preferred relevant to area of specialty) or to be successfully obtained within XX months of employment

Job Specific and Abilities:

• To perform procedures such as intubation, PICC lines, intercostal drainage, lumbar puncture
• Experience in leading resuscitation within NICU
• Understands principles of medical audit
• Understands principles of clinical research
• Ability to work as part of multidisciplinary team as a team member or a lead
• Ability to prioritize clinical needs
• Ability to cope with stressful situations and take responsibility
• Evidence of participation in medical audits
• Evidence of participation in research
• Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams
• Evidence of completing course relating to communication skills
• Positive, enthusiastic and motivated individual
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Team player
• Experience documenting in an electronic medical record an asset
